AUTOCOUTURE MOTORING YEAR IN REVIEW; 2022 HIGHLIGHTS
As we move into the new year, we want to take a moment to share some of our favorite builds from 2022. It was almost impossible to come up with these highlights, because each vehicle that comes into our shop is pretty epic, and our list of favorite builds is truly endless.
However, after much debate, we were able to select a few 2022 highlights:
Tartanzanite Blue BMW F80 M3
The mods made on this Tartanzanite Blue BMW F80 M3 were focused on both personalization and performance. We installed customized Recaro’s racing-inspired sportster seats. These seats combine the features of a sports seat and the lightweight shell of a racing seat – adding unique design features and fabrics that will complement the styling of high-end sports cars and sports sedans. We took this seat one more level by customizing the seat design and fabric even more, utilizing a blue plaid pattern that complimented both the exterior paint color and the personality of the driver.
We also added a set of BBS Wheels – a favorite and go to recommendation for our customers at AUTOcouture Motoring! BBS Wheels are top quality high performance wheels and are some of the most respected in the world. What makes these wheels so sought-after are the high levels of engineering and manufacturing technologies that go into them. Check out the BBS Wheels blog post to learn more.
DME Tuning Twin Turbo Lamborghini Huracán Performante
We know that you’ve seen us post about this supercar in the past, but we couldn’t do an annual re-cap without adding this limited production Lamborghini Huracán Performante to our list of favorites. This red beauty is lowered on Novitec Springs and mounted on HRE R101LW (lightweight R10’s) center lock wheels in satin black. AMS Performance was selected for their Alpha 12 twin turbo kit, to increase the power and capabilities of this already performance minded vehicle. Read the full mod blog post this vehicle here.
All the work to this vehicle by both AUTOcouture Motoring and our in-house tuning team, DME Tuning, has paid off. This last summer, the car placed first in the 190-199.99 MPH class with RaceMotive at Pocono Raceway, achieving a personal best with a 199.93 MPH pass.
Epic builds: The new BMW G80 M3
In 2021, we started with the new BMW G80 by modifying our ACM Brooklyn Grey G80. This paved the way for a slew of other G80 projects over the past two years. It was so difficult to narrow down the ones to highlight, but these three vehicles made the cut. Check out the modifications made to these G80’s:
Akrapovic 2021+ BMW M3 (G80) M4 (G82) Slip-On Line (Titanium) (Req. Tips)
This high-grade lightweight titanium system, finished with hand-crafted carbon-fiber tailpipes, weighs in at 35% lighter than stock and features a pair of collectors cast in the in-house foundry. The Slip-On Line (Titanium) comes with a specially developed Akrapovic control kit for a complete sound experience. The system delivers power increases of 10.9 hp at 6,000 rpm and a torque gain of 10.25ft/lb at 5,000 rpm when tested on the Akrapovic dyno against a BMW M4 Competition with a standard stock exhaust.
HRE’s forged wheels are a favorite at AUTOcouture for good reason. HRE creates the ultimate street-performance wheels by combining the purposeful lightweight design of our race wheels with an unmatched level of sophisticated design. They are the perfect complement to everything from today’s sports cars, to supercars to high performance luxury sedans and SUVs.
Racing Sport Concepts 2021 BMW G80 M3, G82 M4 Front Splitter
This Carbon Fiber Front Splitter by Racing Sport Concepts will increase front end downforce and reduce lift without sacrificing too much ground clearance.
Turner Motorsports Carbon Fiber Strut Brace - BMW G80 M3/G82 M4
Upgrade your handling and rigidity performance with a track proven brand. Our unique strut tower brace offers more than just good looks - it reduces chassis flex to stiffen the suspension, and helps triangulate the front end, providing more consistent suspension geometry.
Eventuri BMW G80 M3 /G82 M4 Carbon Fiber Intake System
Eventuri recently released this carbon fiber intake system for the G3, meant to be a “complete solution” to ensure a smooth inlet track with cold air saturation. They have kept the iconic Eventuri housing in this intake and have designed a brand new filter, with a brand new size, to maximize available space and give the best flow rate possible. Through their 3D laser scanning process, they have produced a product that will perform well beyond the stock intake system capabilities. Eventuri has gone above and beyond with the design features in this system and we’ve been really pleased with the results. Read more about the Eventuri Carbon Fiber Intake System in our blog post, here.
Turner Carbon Fiber High Kick Rear Spoiler - G80 M3
Inspired by the design of the high kick trunk found on the E46 M3 CSL, Turner wanted to replicate this performance aesthetic in a unique manner to perfectly compliment the aggressive factory body lines of the G80 M3. Crafted from high-quality hand laid carbon fiber to achieve its world class appearance and durability, the Turner Motorsport High Kick will give your M3 aggressive styling to set your vehicle apart from the masses.
Safe & Loud: Porsche 992 GT3
Akrapovic’s Slip-On Race Line represents the first step in the exhaust system tuning process and it can easily be installed onto the Porsche GT3's (992) stock system. Built from hi-grade titanium and finished with two eye-catching double round tailpipes, this entry system makes the GT3 (992) more powerful and lighter, and gives the car that unique, sporty Akrapovic sound. Included in the line are the:
Akrapovic 21-22 Porsche 911 GT3 (992) Slip-On Race Line (Titanium), with Titanium Tips
Akrapovic 21-22 Porsche 911 GT3 (992) Evolution Race Header Set with Catalytic Converters
The 1M that should've been
This engine swap project was the closest thing that has happened to a surgery at our Fairlawn, New Jersey, shop. The goal of the project was to complete a "turn-key" or "pushbutton" factory engine swap. Keeping the continuity of the chassis era, we mated the S65 V8 from the E9x M3 into the E82 135 chassis. A donor engine was used, which then received rod bearing service and a complete reseal, overhauling cooling system components and other ancillary bits around the long block. The 6-speed transmission, differential and gauge cluster were also fitted for the car. The only non-factory parts on the car are the oil cooler and modified driveshaft due to the wheelbase length. Side-by-side wiring diagrams proved to be a challenge going from a turbo-charged 6 cylinder to a naturally aspirated 8 cylinder, but after the repinning of various harnesses, cloning the DME and programming – the 135 is acting like it’s an E92 M3.
Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Ryft exhaust and tune
We amped up the performance of this amazing Lamborghini Aventador SVJ with an artisan crafted, titanium Ryft Exhaust System and Stage 2 flash tune from our in-house tuning partner, DME Tuning.
Two of a kind: The BMW F90 M5 CS
What’s better than one limited production BMW? Two, of course. Production of the BMW F90 M5 CS was limited to 2022 and about 1,000 vehicles. Its 4.4-litre V8 engine with BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology delivers an impressive 635hp. This is 10hp more than the M5 Competition. That translates to 6,000rpm and a peak torque of 750Nm.
These unique vehicles arrived together at the AUTOcouture Motoring shop, where we used our in-house partners, Automotive Specialty Wraps, for PPF, and DME Tuning, for tuning services.
Paint Protection Film (PPF) is the best defense available to protect your vehicle from the elements and ever changing road conditions, by offering high impact resistance against chips and scratches. It will also protect paint from fading caused by UV rays. We love it because it protects these exotic vehicles for years, keeping a beautiful, glossy finish. Read more about PPF in this blog post.
MPACT 2022
We can’t have a year in review post without mentioning MPACT 2022. This event was exceptional, and attended by thousands of BMW enthusiasts at Pocono Raceway in August. We brought out a lineup of vehicles that we poured ourselves into, for our customers that we also call family. We loved meeting so many fellow BMW enthusiasts at the event and can’t wait to see what MPACT 2022 brings! Read the full blog post on MPACT 2022 here.
We thank each of you for being a part of our family at AUTOcouture Motoring, and look forward to doing more great work with you in 2023 and beyond!
