The idea of a short shifter kit was prevalent ten years ago. Since, let's face it, they were never that good out of the factory, it would be on every modern BMW owner's mind. But these days, it's hard to find fanatics that seek out the most authentic driving, analog experience. With few exceptions, the modern BMW enthusiast must either keep their shifter stock or settle for a shifter that looks like it belongs in a race car as a result of the fall in three-pedal enjoyment and the subsequent decrease in aftermarket options.
Thankfully, Future Classic has never been constrained by the belief that products should only be created with a profit-driven objective in mind. Instead, they place a strong emphasis on designing products for enthusiasts, whether that means producing ten or ten thousand individual components. Their newest product for the G8X M3 / M4 market—a short shifter, as you might have guessed—is evidence of this.
The Shift Lever: The 303 stainless lever upper gives the shifter more bulk, improving feel where it counts. The main pivot is made of stainless steel, while the pivot bottom is made of Delrin AF, ensuring long-lasting toughness. This thermoplastic is very resistant to extremely high drivetrain temperatures, has a very low coefficient of friction, and wear properties. This combination ensures that your Future Classic shifter will be effortless to use regardless of the driving conditions throughout time.
Its upper provisions may also accommodate any BMW factory shift knob, which is an important design element that keeps the shifter's OEM-like appearance.
The Shifting Carrier: The carrier should be recognizable if not already. It is the precise component that is now in your car. Future Classic was able to maintain expenses reasonable in the face of escalating costs throughout the industry by utilizing the OEM carrier and concentrating solely on areas that needed improvement.
